3rd annual Folk Festival

944086The Friends of Stoneydown Park are proud to announce that we will be working with Walthamstow folk Club to present the third annual Folk festival in the park on Sunday 30 June. In addition to a great line up of live musicians, there will be hot food from Giggly Pig and Jerusalem falafel, The Rose and Crown beer tent, local crafts, books, glitter tattoos, bouncy castle, coconut shy plus the Friends of Stoneydown home baked cake stall.

It’s going to be another fun event for all to enjoy. See you there!

Burns Night Ceilidh 2013

1213262[1]A fantastic night was had by everyone who attended the Burns Night Ceilidh on 26 January. Linda and Robyn organised the event, and the £500 raised will be used towards the development a sensory garden area in memory of Claire Tansley. The music was provided by the brilliant local band The Stowicks, who guided us all through our ceilidh paces and had everyone stripping the willow by the end of the evening. It was another fun collaborative FoSP event, with members baking shortbread and whiskey toffees, and generously donating raffle prizes.

Thank you to everyone who helped to make the Folk festival such a success. It took a lot of planning, but all came together on the day and it was fantastic to see so many people enjoying themselves in the park. We were lucky that the earlier rainy weather passed and the sun shone throughout the afternoon. We have already started planning next years event so save the the last Sunday in June 2013 for more festival fun!

Autumn Fun Event

autumn-fun-1_2710519_orig[1]Thanks for coming along on Saturday 5th November.

We enjoyed a glass of mulled apple juice, created our fun autumn leaf collage and supported Blue Peter’s ‘Bake a Difference’ campaign. Some younger members of the FoSP sold delicious home made cakes and biscuits and have donated £70 to the Blue Peter appeal. Well done guys!
